I just thought I would get things jump-started with a welcome post. After looking over the behind-the-scenes functions of this new bulletin board system I think it will be a great improvement. If you want to participate actively be sure and subscribe to the fora in which you wish to participate and you may want to visit your profile, update some information and check the box for notifications when someone replies to your post. All of this will make this a more valuable tool for all.

Hello, my name is Adam and I am currently living in new orleans. I stumbled across this website while searching for schools for watchmaking. I used to be a jeweler for Mignon Faget for about 5 years until she had a big layoff. I then joined the new orleans fire dept for about 10 years then hurt my back and cannot perform my duties anymore. I guess I am in a spot now where i have to make a big career move with kids and a house note. I always loved being a bench jeweler and luxury mechanical watches always interested me aswell. Does anyone have any idea if there are any school near new orleans? Furthermore if it safe to say that homology might be a better, specialized career to get into than a bench jeweler? Anyway, Thanks for listening to me ramble. Adam

Try http://www.awci.com/education-certifica ... c-schools/ for a list of watchmaking schools. Your closest school is going to be in Fort Worth, TX or Mobile, AL but I suggest you look for the best school, not the closest school.
