On September 28, 1971, AWCI established a separate branch of the Institute to be known as The AWCI Education, Library and Museum Charitable Trust (ELM Trust). The purposes of the trust are:
- To establish a horological library
- To establish a horological museum
- To assist students in their Horological studies
- To lend practical assistance to schools which engage in the teaching of Horology
