Baselworld, the trade show of the international jewelry and watch industry, will be held March 19-26, 2015 in Basel, Switzerland.
The global luxury goods market has been thriving, having grown 276% between 1995 and 2012. The watchmaking industry has also enjoyed significant growth over the same period, especially considering its repositioning toward high-end products since the 1990s. At Baselworld, people from all over the world come to see what’s new, to take the pulse of the marketplace, and do business.
In HT May 2014, Jack Kurdzionak shared his insights about the watch industry after visiting Baselworld. He wrote about the new emphasis on the research and design of new movements, both mechanical and quartz. He concluded that the watch industry is actually growing in health, market share, and size.
