American Watchmakers - Clockmakers Institute
Supporting and Advancing Horology through Education and Cooperation

This class encompasses the basics of hairspring manipulations. You will start with a uncolletted, unstudded hairspring. One error at a time will be introduced, and correction and the logic behind the repair will be discussed prior to the correction. Techniques will be shown and through this educational experience strong basics should begin to emerge. Simple bends and multiple bends will be addressed. Correction of errors in the flat will also be a part of this seldom offered program. The finale will be the correction of multiple errors in a balance installed within a stripped mainplate and bridge. This class will touch upon truing the hairspring at the collet, safe removal, installation, manipulation, centering in the round and flat, regulator pins and more.
