Work hands-on with special High Grade dials to learn special techniques to lessen the effects of a scratched dial, sometimes eliminating the scratch altogether. The scratch could be the result of a broken crystal or an accident caused by the watchmaker. These burnishing techniques have cross applications. Unlike standard watch repair, there is some artistry that must occurs and be practiced under supervision. The hands on these High Grade watches are made from 18K gold. This offers some unique opportunities when it comes to removing scratches from them as well.
Also shown here during these program are tips and techniques for refinishing the hands, re-luminescing, cleaning and more. Dial issues such as, endshake adjusting, centering of the dial and other issues are addressed. A special tool must be purchased by each individual participating. I will prepare this tool in advance of the class (as it takes about an hour each). The average cost of these oval burnishers are somewhere around $30 to $40 dollars each in addition to the price of the class.
