Many people entering the watchmaking profession have never had any instruction on the keys to understanding, selecting, and properly utilizing the crystal selection books like the GS and B&B. This tutorial course explains how these reference guides work and the small little secrets that most watchmakers never knew. Understanding the vast selection and the categories is an important part of this course. Being able to purchase the correct fitting crystal the first time, saves both time and money. Both vintage and modern crystal selections are unique and offer a different sets of variables that we must deal with. Discussion and demonstrations of pressing in a crystal, cementing in a plastic crystal, UV gluing, case press inversion techniques, measuring and clamping with a crystal lift are just some of the most time consuming tasks if not done properly the first time.
